Support and methods that are compatible with all types of learners.
I provide personalized instructional methods for students who struggle with reading, writing, and math. Often, they are quite gifted but their unique way of learning may inhibit them from thriving in a standard classroom setting. Some of my students struggle with ASD, executive function challenges, memory, Asperger's Syndrome, or struggle with language processing Often, these students are tremendously gifted but require an alternative approach to learning.
Each student I work with is assessed for their struggles and strengths. Issues are targeted and instructional methods use each student's personal strength profile to maximize their learning potential. With time, work, and dedication; results are often astounding.
How commonly a student is considered disabled when the true disability exists within the skill, creativity and insight of the instructor.
INSTRUCTION AND SUPPORT FOR ALL TYPES OF LEARNERS.
Many of my students initially struggle with reading and writing letter reversals. They often find it challenging to read and write the letters b, d, p, and q.
In addition to letter and number reversals, students also frequently have difficulty mastering letter names and sounds. Many of them also struggle with discerning sounds or struggle with adding or omitting sounds when reading and writing.
Phonological training is offered to develop a student's ability to understand and produce the sounds that makeup letters and words. I provide instruction by using the LIPS Program.
Students are instructed with sensory-rich, physically interactive learning experiences. Many of the techniques used in occupational therapy are used to improve student learning.
